Roma Women defeated Lazio Women 1-0 thanks to a stunning strike from Di Guglielmo in the 29th minute of the first half, reclaiming top spot after a solid performance throughout the Capital City derby. The biancocelesti struggled to impose their usual style of play, creating few chances that also failed to convert. In the end, their frustration was understandable.
Match Report: Roma vs Lazio Women
Roma started stronger, taking control of the game and creating several good chances – with both Giugliano and Greggi denied by the crossbar. As mentioned, it was Di Guglielmo who broke the deadlock with a thunderous left-footed shot that surprised Lazio goalkeeper Durante. She improved in the second half, denying Greggi and Rieke the joy of scoring.
On the other end, Karczewska squandered a promising opportunity from the middle of the box. Rieke also came close with a right-footed effort, but Benoît was alert and cleared the ball off the line. In the final minutes, Roma saw their potential 2-0 goal disallowed due to a foul by Greggi on D’Auria. However, Lazio failed to capitalize on the momentum and push for an equalizer, despite Piemonte‘s late chance in the 93rd minute.
