Inside Serie B Women’s 2025

The 2025 Serie B Women season has shown an increase in the overall level, with four teams involved in the promotion race in the first half, and it probably closed with what looks like an obvious outcome for Como 1907, as the club sits on top, five points clear of the nearest rival. The young club is in its first season in Italy Second Division after two years spent in the lower tiers of the pyramid, and earned its spot not on the pitch but by acquiring the sporting title of Chievo Women, the club that had absorbed Fortitudo Mozzecane after the folding of Valpolicella in 2019.

What 2025 Tells Us About Serie B Women

Serie B Women closed 2025 with a clear verdict still to be decided, and 2026 will be the decisive year, but Como 1907 cannot rest on its laurels as its opponents can still take points off them, as the 1-2 defeat against Verona showed. The main difference between Como and its rivals has been consistency: the Lariane have proved to be much more consistent than Lumezzane, Bologna, Cesena and Brescia, who all took points off each other and allowed the team from the lake to escape.

In the mid‑table, the rebranding of Res Women into Res DonnaRoma under the new American ownership confirmed their solidity in the second division, with Freedom looking much more like a team than last year, and newly promoted Frosinone (admitted by the Federation, like Vicenza, after Sampdoria and Spezia did not apply for registration) showing greater consistency. Vicenza itself has grown game by game despite a poor start, while Arezzo has had ups and downs but has found a way to get out of difficult moments.

Hellas Verona has improved compared to the previous season, while San Marino Academy sits above the relegation zone thanks to key wins in direct clashes. Newly promoted Trastevere and Venezia are in the relegation zone with four points and two different paths.

The Lagunari started well but then entered a tunnel from which not even a coaching change has managed to pull them out, while Trastevere (a team from a district of Rome) probably has the least strong squad in the league from a roster perspective, but shows one of the best fighting spirits in Serie B Women. Thanks to that, they do not have the worst defence in the league – and for a newly promoted team, this is probably the best result to achieve in the first half of the season.
