Serie A Women closed in style its second weekend in a row by giving us a shocking Matchday 2 that shaped the league table drastically, probably depending by Euros, Women’s Cup and the European competitions as well.
SERIE A WOMEN, A CLOSER LOOK TO THE LEAGUE TABLE
Two wins in two weekends for Roma, Napoli and Lazio, with both teams of Rome capable of taking the full stake after a not-so-good game, while Neapolitans came up with a strong attack to destroy any Ternana‘s possibility to take points, and the Umbrian now sits in last position with the worst defense and the worst goal difference. Behind them an Inter that managed to escape defeat in Florence thanks to Santi scoring in the injury time, in a match that saw a poor performance by the nerazzurre, tired after the task against Vllaznia in Europa Cup.
It follow Milan, Como Women and Parma, all with three points. It can be said that rossonere are the disappointed ones after a good match against the leading team, while both Como and Parma found an incredible win against a much stronger side. What stunned the most – probably – is Nischler sealing victory for her group on Juventus‘ field. Still, the ducali won a derby in front of Sassuolo in the same style they did it in 2022, and that’s kind a surprise as well.
THE BOTTOM FIVE
2025-26 Serie A Women sees Fiorentina and Juventus in the bottom five of the league’s table, and certainly is a position in which at least one of them it is not expected to be. For sure are the defending champions, that had a poor start of the tournament after having won the Women’s Cup back in September. What should worry the most is the little amount of open play goals, only 5 counting all the competitions in which they are involved. A trend to convert.
For the gigliate, as for Sassuolo and the two promoted Genoa and Ternana – which are facing the difficulties of facing a championship with a different technical and tactical rate – a foreseen beginning after having changed a lot in the squad as in the training staff, and both replace their coach. For the Tuscanians, the difficulty sits also in Piñones-Arce‘s adaptation to a new country.
SERIE A WOMEN, WHAT TO EXPECT IN THE NEXT MATCHDAY?
Serie A Women gives us another weekend where everything can change dramatically, and we can count at least three top matches that can affect the classification. First of all, Genoa-Ternana, both searching the first win of the season. It follows a surprisingly direct clash for the title between Napoli and Roma, with the away’s side that looks stronger but can face some phisical and mental hurdles after the Champions League. Last but not the least Lazio-Juventus: biancocelesti could go, in case of victory, eight points clear to a team they beat in Women’s Cup.
