Serie A Women at full sail: it’s first one for Fiorentina (and other three clubs as well)

Serie A Women go straight into the first international break for UEFA Women’s Nations League and national friendly matches as well in 2025-26 season, and register another interesting weekend for the standing. Four teams have reached their first win of the championship, and it’s time to analyse a bit what could change in the near future.

SERIE A WOMEN, IT’S FIORENTINA FIRST TIME

Fiorentina

The most important win of the season probably is Fiorentina last-gasp’s against AC Milan in Viola Park. Viola had a foreseeable discontinuous start, and Saturday some of their actual problems, most of all regarding defender’s cohesion and attention, came clear as Renzotti‘s double and Soffia scored for visitors.

Janogy equalised twice, and when she scored in 94th minute the drama seemed to end, but reality showed that it just started there, as Giuliani made an incredible mistake that allowed Tryggvadóttir to capsize the score. A match that one or two year ago the club would have surely lost turned into the first victory of 2025-26 Serie A Women, and for character and team building it’s something that can shape the next months in a positive way.

Juventus

Juventus won in Formello (province of Rome) thanks to Girelli penalty at the 86th after Goldoni was penalised for a handball. Obviously it was the number 10 who decided a real tense match that seemed destined to a draw. Lazio played better in the Women’s Cup but was justified by the number of injuries that weakened the midfield, while bianconere in their championship still struggling to show what they did one year ago.

What made the difference on Sunday was the fact that the visitors were conscious of the mistakes made in September, when final attacks weren’t as strong as they should have been, so they managed to turn the last 10 minutes into three points with their experience. The depth of the bench is another point that helped Juventus find their way past the defense, also if it was a first-choice player who decided the score.

Genoa and Sassuolo

Two low-ranking teams also find their first win of the season, and the one which stands the most is Genoa‘s 3-1 against Ternana, in a direct clash to avoid relegation that left Umbrians last with no points. Sassuolo avenged their loss in previous derby with the smallest of margin against Como Women, with the attack that opened the match as soon as it could and then did not converted the great number of chances created. Serie A Women can be more surprising than before.
