Serie B Women is an interesting league that determines the only one team that is going to be promoted in the 12 teams-reformed Serie A. This season has seen lots of changes, the first one the presence of Como 1907 (men’s professional club of Serie A, in contrast with Mercury/13 ruled Como Women that also play in first tier) which has bought Chievo Women’s sports yitle. Then FIGC’s Court has not admitted Sampdoria (relegated from top division) and Spezia, (winner of third tier’s Girone A) to redraw the level with Frosinone and Vicenza.
SERIE B WOMEN, THE SEASON SO FAR
Como 1907 is currently leading the league with one point over Cesena and three points clear on Brescia, defeated in the top match of Matchday 6. Bologna, which lost last season’s battle for promotion, is only sixth after the defeat against Lumezzane and the incredible 2-2 draw against Res DonnaRoma – formerly known as Res Roma, that at the end 2017-18 season gave its title to allow AS Roma to enter in women’s football from the main door.
For the relegation battle are involved Trastevere – Rome, newly promoted after winning Girone C of Serie C – with no points and no goals scored after six weekends, San Marino Academy, that one year ago kept the category with a last-gasp goal in the clash between Bologna and Orobica Bergamo, that got relegated instead, and Venezia, another team that marked its way through by winning Girone A of Serie C.
THE ANALYSIS
Serie B Women is an interesting league that is seeing some major changes from last seasons, so nothing is decided yet. For sure, investments made by Como 1907 are probably going to bear fruit in next months, and the battle for promotion could end in next top clash between them and Cesena. For the relegation, there are a lot of clubs involved, so everything can change weekend by weekend, and there is still so much that can be written.
